updates i wanna make to my website

Did you know that this website is open-source? I mostly keep the public-facing stuff neat and tidy but if you wanna dig through my drafts and half-baked ideas, you can do that too.

For some reason I’ve decided to put my to-do list here instead of on the GitLab page’s issue tracker, where by all rights it really ought to go. Maybe I’ll move it over someday but I don’t think I really need it.

My goal currently is to make this site into a decent public-facing portfolio while also remaining my Place Where I Put Stuff. I refuse to make it look identical to every single high-concept artist site with a plain white background and tiny link buttons that look • L I K E • T H I S •, but it does need a few changes.

Here are those changes (future Síoda, please cross them off as they get done!):

• Make a proper showreel for the homepage
• Don’t load the showreel by default - display a “play showreel” prompt that loads it in
• Develop a stylesheet for the portfolio page that lets me:
  • Highlight one project as my showcase work
  • Display link cards with images and descriptions on them
• Similarly improve the writing page (no need for these ones to be as pretty though)
  • Highlight the most recent entry
  • Display blocks with post title, date, and description
• Create a new site background using pure CSS or maybe a very small amount of JS - I do like the current one but it’s a touch distracting.
