LevUL Up: Digital Skills social media page

LevUL Up is the University of Limerick’s digital skills department, focused around teaching computer skills to students. The department also runs regular workshops covering topics from the university’s own learning management system. Part of my job at the department was to create short-form videos advertising these workshops, and promoting digital skills topics in a quick, digestible format.

Requirements

All videos should…

• Follow the University of Limerick’s brand guidelines,
• Be quick, interesting and engaging,
• Discuss specific topics that were relevant to whatever workshop was currently ongoing.

Asset management

To make the video production process as straightforward as possible, I first prepared assets relating to branding. This involved modifying UL’s official brand assets to be more usable in digital media, setting up the necessary fonts, and creating a short outro clip that would allow the video to loop smoothly.

Over time, I sometimes found myself reusing specific objects - text formatted a certain way, certain images like logos, or video transitions - in almost every video I was making. Whenever this happened, I would add them to a reusable template library within Davinci Resolve to streamline the production of future videos.
