After I finished my degree (and recovered from the burnout it had induced), I got bored. To combat this, and to make sure I was still practicing and improving at stuff, I started a YouTube series! The videos are about making art, exploring creative processes (both new and familiar to me), and gradually building up a world of places and characters as my skills improve.
I intentionally went into this series with very little by way of plans. In a context like this, exploration is a vital part of the creative process - one long-term goal I have with this series is to establish a distinct audio and visual identity that really feels like an extension of myself.
I try to keep each video centered around one particular topic. This lets me take the viewer along for the ride, wherever it may go.
This is my first foray into long-form content since making modded Minecraft letsplays with Windows Movie Maker as a teenager. My standards have gone up by quite a lot since then! So I’m still trying to dial in exactly how fast-paced I want these videos to be. Now that I have a background of making high-effort TikToks, I certainly lean more towards quick, snappy edits - but I’m enjoying the extra breathing room afforded to me by this medium.
